Indisputably, Greenland is the largest isle on the planet. It is an independent country in the Kingdom of Denmark. The isle is located amid Atlantic Ocean and the Arctic to the east of the Arctic Archipelago. And eighty-six percent of Greenland`s territory is covered with ice.

The interesting thing about the isle is that geographically it is a part of North America continent. However, culturally and politically Greenland has always been associated with such European countries as Denmark and Norway for over thousand years. Nowadays, the population of the Island equals fifty-eight thousands of people. Therefore, in 2008, the population of the Isle approved a vote supporting larger independence – more than 76 percent of voices.

The capital city is Nuuk. The biggest towns of Greenland are Qaqortoq, Ilulissat, Aasiaat, Maniitsoq, Paamiut, Tasiilaq, Nanortalik, and Narsaq. An average town`s population equals eight thousand people.
